Sources and limits

About these dates

A public holiday does not always close every business. Essential services, shops and some industries keep working, and pay rules differ by country and contract.

Dates come from the open-source python-holidays project (0.106, MIT licence), which follows each country’s laws and official calendars; NonWorkingDays built these tables from it on 15 October 2026. Names are shown as the source gives them, in the local language and in English, without machine translation.

Dates marked “estimated” follow lunar or religious calendars and can move by a day when they are announced. Days off decreed at short notice, such as bridge days, may be missing. Check with an official source before you book.

Long weekends count the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and nationwide public holidays only. “When” counts days by the local date in Vienna.

! Checked against Arbeitsruhegesetz par. 7 Abs. 2 (13 Feiertage), RIS consolidated version of 15.10.2026, oesterreich.gv.at Ferienkalender 2026/2027 (statutory holidays Oct 2026 to Aug 2027, updated 25.08.2026), oesterreich.gv.at Ferienkalender 2025/2026 per Bundesland (Landespatron school-free days; located via search result snippets only, pages returned HTTP 500 on fetch) on 16 October 2026, with caveats: The 13 statutory holidays match the Arbeitsruhegesetz and the official 2026/27 calendar for both years; Good Friday, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are listed nationwide as bank days although none is a statutory holiday, and the Landespatron days are school and office days, not general days off (only Josef, Florian, Martin and Leopold dates were confirmed from official school calendars).
