A public holiday across Moldova: most employees have the day off.
In 2027 it falls on a Monday, a working day.
Fixed date: it is on the same day of the year every year (Mar 8).

International Women's Day
International Women's Day, on 8 March, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and also a day of campaigning for gender equality. Around the world it is marked with marches, conferences, workplace events and campaigns, and the United Nations has recognised it since 1977, when the General Assembly invited member states to proclaim a day for women's rights and international peace. Each year the United Nations sets a theme for the day. Its colours are purple, green and white, which were adopted by the suffragette movement in Britain in the early twentieth century and which appear on posters, ribbons and clothing.
In Russia, Moldova and several other countries of the former Soviet Union, the day is a public holiday with a more festive character, on which men give women flowers, especially mimosa and tulips, and small gifts, and it is often compared to Mother's Day. In Italy, the day is known as Festa della Donna, and mimosa is also the traditional flower. In many countries it is a day of demonstrations, in others of celebration. Employers, schools and associations often use the day to hold talks and exhibitions on equality, and some groups hold strikes or marches.
