Sources and limits

About these dates

A public holiday does not always close every business. Essential services, shops and some industries keep working, and pay rules differ by country and contract.

Dates come from the open-source python-holidays project (0.106, MIT licence), which follows each country’s laws and official calendars; NonWorkingDays built these tables from it on October 15, 2026. Names are shown as the source gives them, in the local language and in English, without machine translation.

Dates marked “estimated” follow lunar or religious calendars and can move by a day when they are announced. Days off decreed at short notice, such as bridge days, may be missing. Check with an official source before you book.

Long weekends count the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and nationwide public holidays only. “When” counts days by the local date in Ankara.

! Checked against Law 2429 on National and General Holidays (Mevzuat Bilgi Sistemi) on October 15, 2026, with caveats: Fixed national holidays and the 3.5 and 4.5 day religious holiday lengths match Law 2429; the lunar Eid dates could not be checked against Diyanet (page unreachable), and government bridge-day extensions are not modelled.
